BLESMA
On May 23rd 2009, eleven cyclists will gather to embark on a seven day ride, covering a distance of one thousand miles, taking them from Lands End to John O'Groats. Each Individual will no doubt have his own personal reason for doing it, but collectively the aim is to raise as much money as possible for their nominated charity BLESMA "British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association" The charity name speaks for itself. Its purpose, to offer help to all ex service men and women whose life has been affected from the aftermath of combat. We cannot begin to imagine the trauma and adjustment of life these individuals must go through, following loss of limbs and mental disorder experienced when out in the war zones.
Politics aside these soldiers - Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Brothers and Sisters are just doing their job, following orders and protecting the interests of Britain and its democracy. But all over the commonwealth, families lives are dramatically disrupted, when the injured party returns home to begin his/hers new life of aftercare and mental and physical disability.
Finally, with your kind help we can make a difference to these individuals and their families.
